Jimmy Hui, President/Chief Executive Officer at The Jimmy Hui Foundation office is very pleased to announce that Boston Pops Fireworks Spectaculars will return to the DCR Hatch Shell Esplanade to celebrate of the 4th of July festivities concert which it will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 to opens for the residents, persons with disabilities, citizens and the public are welcome to come and watch the concert and fireworks throughout this summer kickoff here in the City of Boston and City of Cambridge.

The 50th Annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectaculars are proud to sponsors by: Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and The City of Boston, Cambridge Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui and The City of Cambridge and Governor Maura T. Healey and The Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

 

This admission is now free to open for the public during the normal business hours of operations on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at DCR Hatch Shell Esplanade throughout the summer season here in the City of Boston and City of Cambridge.

 

Program Schedule Information on Tuesday, July 4, 2023:

9:00 a.m.: Oval Opens

12:00 p.m.: Recorded music begins in Boston

4:30 p.m.: Recorded music begins in Cambridge

8:00 p.m.: Concert Begins

10:30 p.m.: Fireworks Begins

11:00 p.m.: Boston Pops Fireworks Spectaculars Ends

Secure Areas:

There are two secured areas for this event: The Oval and the Island. Spectators entering these areas will be required to pass through one of the bag check/screening entrances and will receive a wristband specifically for that area, which must be worn at all times during the event too ensure access in and out of that secured area. When the Secured areas are full on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, NO additional wristbands will be distributed.

 

Tuesday, July 4, 2023: Access Points
The Oval checkpoint will be located between the Island's Clarendon Footbridge and the Berkeley Footbridge. The checkpoint will open at 9:00 a.m. Access to the checkpoint can best be accomplished by accessing the DCR Esplanade from Berkeley Street.
 
The Island checkpoints will be located at the Clarendon and Exeter Footbridges. These checkpoints will open at 9:00 a.m. Access to the Island checkpoints can best be accomplished by using Beacon Street to Clarendon Street or utilizing the Dartmouth or Fairfield Street Footbridges over Storrow Drive. The Fairfield Footbridge over to the Island will be designated as EXIT ONLY.

 

What is not allowed - What is allowed:
To ensure the safety of all visitors to the Esplanade, the following rules will be strictly enforces on July 4th. Unless noted below, no backpacks, shopping bags or similar type containers may be carried onto the DCR Esplanade, and all carried items are subject to inspection.
 
Prohibited Items:

  • No coolers on wheels -must be carried by shoulder strap

  • No backpacks

  • No Firearms, Weapons, Sharp Objects or Fireworks

  • No glass containers

  • No Cans

  • No pre-mixed beverages

  • All liquids will be carried in sealed clear plastic containers not exceed 2 liters in size

  • No grilling, propane tanks or open flames

  • No bicycles will be allowed through the checkpoints into the Oval or Island/Lagoon areas. Bicycles are allowed throughout the rest of the venue, but most not be left unattended. Bicycles attached or locked to security fences, poles, etc. will be subject to removal.

  • No unattended bags

  • No drones

Allowed Items:

  • All personal items must be carried in clear bags only

  • Pop Tents/Canopies with no sides -maximum size 10 x 10

  • Blankets or tarps no bigger than 10 x 12

  • Folding/Beach Chairs only

  • No tents/canopies allowed.

Boston Emergency Medical Services

Medical:

Emergency Medical Services personnel are located in the City of Boston and City of Cambridge. As a precautionary measure against extreme heat, Boston EMS will operate mist tents and the DCR will operate water spray on Storrow Drive. In Boston, dispensers containing complimentary SPF 30 sunscreen available. Please protect yourself.

 

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA):

Public Transportation:

The commuter rail and subway systems are favorable alternative to driving and parking for Boston events. The MBTA provides extra bus and subway service on Monday, July 3, 2023. On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, all bus and train fares will not be collected after 9:30 p.m.
